Only three weeks after being appointed, the Independent Accountability Panel (IAP) and its Secretariat held their first face-to-face meeting in Johannesburg on the 2nd of March 2016. Panellists were very responsive as they are aware of the important task which lies ahead of them. Six members were able to join the meeting in person, while the three others joined online.
In just one day, the group moved fast to clarify its role and responsibilities and set out a roadmap for their work. Nana Taona Kuo (EWEC) was invited to provide an overview of Every Women Every Child (EWEC) and the Global Strategy, and discussed with the panel its role within this global accountability architecture. Discussions were also initiated on the theme of the first report on the State of Women’s, Children’s and Adolescents’ Health and process to develop it.

The group then joined the Accountability Workshop organised by the Partnership on the 3rd and 4th of March.
